BioBorn and raised in a place not too far away from Frankfurt, Germany and still live there. Graduated from Frankfurt University in '07. Studied German and English language and literature. Connected to "Mainhattan" through a love-hate. Let's say I accept this town but I was never too impressed by its big city lights. There are nicer towns in Germany. But you get used to it. I currently have a part-time job there and another one around my home town. Started working on the draft of my PhD last summer. Hope it will turn out well... Feel like I've just started the search for my own way.
Whenever I'm not too busy doing that, I enjoy hanging out with friends, I listen to music – I'm a HUGE fan of Mark Knopfer/Dire Straits, I love Pink Floyd, Mike Oldfield, Bon Jovi, Franz Ferdinand, Muse... The "darker" stuff like Nightwish, In Extremo, Subway to Sally or Wynardtage... The old school guitarists like Tommy Emmanuel and Chet Atkins and last but not least the great Paul Simon, my all-time favourite songwriter.
I'm a TV show addict, I'm especially addicted to House, M.D. The main character is fascinating and Hugh Laurie is simply amazing. I love analysing and discussing the latest House, M.D. episodes or simply adore Hugh Laurie... Yes I can turn into a hysterical fangirl when I see pictures of him.
I also love Dexter and Californication, A Bit of Fry and Laurie, everything Loriot has ever done, The X-Files and oh yes, Star Trek, especially Next Generation and Enterprise.
I cannot stand German comedy or German pop music and schlager music, I really hate hip hop and casting show bands. I also dislike soap operas and most German movies, cheap entertainment of all sorts and I'm allergic to musicals and the smell of beer.
I'm a lazy reader, I mostly read secondary literature but if I want to read a proper book I choose it very carefully. My favourites are Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland", Oscar Wilde's "Picture of Dorian Gray", Nick Mason's Pink Floyd bio, Hugh Laurie's "The Gun Seller", Ian McEwan, Jean-Paul Sartre's "Huis Clos" (which has one of my all-time favourite quotes, "L'enfer, c'est les autres" - Hell, that's the others), Friedrich Dürrenmatt, Erich Kästner's "Fabian" and Johann Wolfgang Goethe's "Faust".
I'm usually companionable and nice, I like to laugh... I love having a nice cup of coffee or cocktail with a friend... I enjoy going to a club once in a while to hear some decent House music (no, not the TV show this time!) I like to talk, light or profound... I also enjoy good parties. That's it for now.
